chippy white changes…

recently, my son landed a great job—(the iu degree finally paid off:), and moved into his first place.  we are now, empty nesters, and that has started changes all around the house.
we decided to replace our bulky surround with the fireplace mantel my husband made earlier this year.

and, the tv ended up on this cabinet--(from the family room).  I watch and record tv through a computer, so, I added the ruffled skirt to hide the computer.

    1. hi liz,

the tv cabinet came from green oaks, an antique store, in rochester, indiana, that sells these amish made cabinets. they use old tin panels, furniture parts and baseboards, and no two are alike.

  7. Congrats to your son on his new job and home!!! Welcome, both you and your hubby, to the 'empty nesters' club!!! It takes a little getting used to, but it's so nice to see your children grow up and do well...and they do come back to visit (mostly for free meals and to use the washer and dryer LOL!!!)

Great redo on your fireplace...look forward to seeing what's next!! Have a great weekend Lynn!

  20. Oh how Fun to be able to change the house up when the Nest empties! Alas, it will be quite a while before we have that luxury since we're raising some of our Grandchildren and will have been Parenting for over 45 consecutive years before the last Child leaves the Nest... but I Daydream about the changes I'll make when it's just The Man and I! *Winks*

  34. Lynn, You always have the greatest ideas that turn out beautifully! Now that my daughter has moved to NYC as of Monday, we are joining the ranks of the empty nesters. Not a terrible thing when you're close enough to visit or for them to come home if they want.
