old lace screen, and a slipcover…

we are busy putting in windows and doors right now, –what a mess!  so, I will be a bit more quiet until it’s all done.  3 more windows, a door and a whole lot of drywall still to do.
my son gave me an old window screen last fall.  I cut out the bottom section of screen, and stapled some old lace to the back side.
with my leftover lace, I want to try carol’s sweet lace lampshade tutorial:)-check it out!
and here’s my very first attempt at making a slipcover….not perfect, but, much easier than I thought it would be.  you can see the left arm is a little puckered, but, all in all, I like it.   I used lowes drop cloths and I still need to sew the covers for the cushions.
here’s the before…
I learned a lot making this cover, and now, I want to do my wing back chair.  remember it?  an ugly gold, trimmed in burgundy-ick.
it’s been sitting in the family room with a drop cloth thrown over it.
and I LOVE old needlepoint feather pillows, and found this at salvage sisters recently.
that’s all for now, –thanks for looking!

a simple project…

hi everyone, --here is a simple project that was inspired by a country living post.  the post shares 7 mini makeovers, –while you are there, by sure to check out andrea’s (keeping it cozy) pantry project:)
I started with a piece of trim leftover from a room re-do.  4 holes were drilled and a small piece of applique was added to the top of the board.  the 3 knobs came from hobby lobby, and the metal clip is from a clipboard.
I painted and sanded the basket, made the little wreath and bundle of flowers, and the clip holds a pic of my husband.  you can make one of these as large or small as you’d like to hold tons of things.
thanks for looking!

this, that, and a thank you…

last week, I had a bday, and got some fun gifts---this cute rose covered bowl and the great rosemary plant marker…

and this scalloped chippy mirror,

this great cloche, and the miniture rose plant came in the cute clay pot, (I already had the cement bunny)

and this table was dark brown and scratched badly.  a coat of paint covered up all all the bad stuff.

and just sharing, my latest pic monkey fun here.  I took a pic of my rosemary topiary and applied the “smudge” effect to it, and really liked the change.

topiary pm

and a huge thank you to kris at junk chic cottage for sending me this cute tote!  it’s filled with anything I might need when on the road,-- junking!  love it, kris:)
