paper roses and twinkle lights…

every year, around halloween, I dig out my xmas stuff.  it’s early for most, but, I love the white lights, and like to have everything done by thanksgiving. i enjoy the holidays better that way.
this mantle has paper roses, pip berries, and pinecones in the greenery. then, I added the “vintage” letters.

lots of us have faux mantles and I wanted to show how I stapled twinkle lights under a skirt of one of my mantles.

they give a whimsical flickering fire light at night.

  4. Ah so beautiful dear Lynn. Festive, white and twinkling, whats not to love! Makes me want to start packing Halloween away at once and start to decorate for Christmas. I'm also planning to have it done until Thanks Giving or better even the week before. I'm glad we're not having Thanks Giving that late in the year over here and that it is no family gathering feast like in the US. I was antiquing on Sunday and lucky to have found some fabulous old Christmas treasures :)
Happy mantle decorating wishes to you!
Oh I'm just thinking maybe I could make something similar with my fault mantle, I mean the curtain and lights behind, well we'll see, anyway thanks for the inspiration!

  8. Very pretty, Lynn! I always say I'm going to start a little earlier {like Thanksgiving week} with my Christmas décor, but I never do seem to get to it until the day after Thanksgiving. Again this year, I'd like to at least get some of my smaller decorative pieces out and set up and then when my son is here for Thanksgiving I can ask him to get my tree down from the attic {it's heavy!}. My hubby is in retail so he will be working on Thanksgiving and into Black Friday.

  9. Hi Lynn, Your mantel is gorgeous with the lights and paper roses. I love the lights below and behind the curtain too. Such a cozy feel at night. I too like to start early with a few displays and then follow with the trees. It's so nice to enjoy the holiday without rushing to get it all done.
Have a great week and happy decorating.
    Hugs

  12. Your mantel is just dreamy, Lynn! I don't do much decorating for Halloween or Thanksgiving, so I'm going to start decorating for Christmas early this year. I'm one of those people who love everything leading up to the holiday and once it's over, I'm the first to pack it up. I've already been playing my Christmas music! We've had snow a few times, so it's been my tradition to dust off the CD's as soon as I see a few snowflakes. You're onto something with your twinkle lights. They're magical. :)

  14. You are early and I would be the same way if we didn't get a live tree. I think your mantel is lovely. Did you make the paper roses? I'd love to learn how. I really like twinkle lights, too! Fantastic job, Lynn! :)
