bedroom shutters and door sconces…

I finally got around to changing the guest bedroom a bit.  the bedding is rachel ashwell, and the ruffled dust ruffle is a new find.

we still haven’t added french doors to this closet yet, so, I hung a couple of sheets up.  to the left of the closets, I brought in an old rusty iron gate, from my garden.

on the window seat, my husband built wood shutters and added old glass doorknobs. this idea was inspired by laurie at heaven’s walk—hers are pink!

they darken the room- perfect for a nap:)

he also, used 2 more of my closet doors, and added crystal sconces to them, for a romantic glow in the room.

and I made a couple of simple wreaths to hang on them.

then, I cut out some corbels, (using a scroll saw), for a shelf above the window.

and I painted dollar store salt and pepper shakers to hold some paper roses—a pinterest idea.

the room is almost done.  I have a couple more projects to do.

I’ll be back after thanksgiving, so I want to wish everyone a wonderful holiday!

  6. The shutters look great, Lynn! I love how the doors were used on either side of the bed with the sconces. A very pretty look. I'm still debating on adding shutters {if I find a good pair I probably will do it}. Love the sconces and your wreaths. The sconces are a great way to get a chandelier feel. Thanks for giving me the "charming blog" title! : )

Have a Happy Thanksgiving, if I don't "see" you before then!

    1. hi jane, go to walmart and buy 2 of the cheapest twin flat sheets--i can't remember how much they were:( the top ruffle is made by just folding over the sheet. i folded it so the sheets didn't drag on the floor. then, i used clip holders on the rod, so, there is no sewing. hope that all makes sense:)
