everywhere a sign…

I made a few signs with my silhouette last week.  with the silhouette, you have two basic ways to do signs.

one way is to simply cut vinyl letters and add them to the wood—fast and easy, but you can’t sand the letters. I did that method on this sign.

on these signs, I used the second method.  cut a stencil, then, paint and sand the letters.

here’s my barely decorated front porch.  the wreath sign is huge—3’.

not perfect, but, I’ve got a garage full of scrap boards to practice on:)

and remember this sign from last year?

when I pulled off the vinyl letters, to re-do it, I got a chippy weathered look that I didn’t expect.

  1. Love your signs, especially that last one, Lynn. Sometimes surprises are surprisingly good! :)
I've never tried using a silhouette before ~ just the blender pen transfer method.
    Merry, merry,

  2. Neat signs, Lynn! I have some Christmas ones pinned but they will have to wait until next year. I did one for my son-in-law with the vinyl letters {that I bought}, but I like the idea of the stencil way to be able to sand. You got a perfect vintage looking Vintage sign pulling the letters off.

  6. Love your signs, Lynn! I'd love to have a silhouette to help make all the signs I've been Pinning! I especially like the frosty look of the last sign. It looks like it's been hanging outside in our sub-zero temps! Your lighted wreath and garland look festive and welcoming on the front of your house. I wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas!

    1. aimee, i've had a cricut and the silhouette, and i love the silhouette--gave away my cricut. it's way easier to use, and the designs are so much cheaper than cricut's. and you only buy designs that you want, --which you just download from silhouettes site. instant gratification:) i even like silhouette's design program better:) cricut's cartridges, books, and overlays take up alot of space, and trying to remember which cartridge that one design you want to cut is--maddening. well, i guess you can tell, i like silhouette:) hope that helps!
