painting roses…

I wanted to share one of my  christmas presents today--jo-anne coletti’s “painting roses” tutorial book.

painting-roses-book

this book easy step by step instructions to paint roses using oil paints.  and it’s filled with many pics of jo-anne’s painted projects.

I’ve taken lots of acrylic and oil painting classes over the years. and I practice roses with acrylics,(like the roses below), all the time, but, I’ve never tried painting roses in oil.  should be fun!

you can find this book—(on sale) here, if you are interested.

***(I’ve been fighting a nasty bug, and hope to catch up with everyone soon)***

thanks for stopping by and stay warm!

  1. I think you paint lovely. I have never tried paint with oils an actual art piece besides words. Roses and landscape images take a lot of talent. You've got it. Have fun painting, what a nice gift.

  2. Hi Lynn,
I'm looking forward to your painted roses. I have zero talent there but always wished I did!
Hope you are on the mend and I must say that I adore that photo of Bailey snoozing in her sweater.

  8. Good morning Lynn, I am sorry to hear that you are under the weather. I'm adding you to my prayers.
As for the roses . . . this is right up your alley, what a lovely gift. Your roses are beautiful and I cannot imagine them being any prettier in oils, just longer to dry. Then again that is the best thing about oils because you have more time to blend and work with the paint. Have fun! I know that you will make treasures.
Keep smiling and get well soon.
    Your blogging sister, Connie :)

  39. Hello! I just started looking for your posts and set up a subscription. Hope you don't mind a question. I have the same book on painting roses and have not practiced very much. I want to start with acrylic first. What do you practice on? Canvas is expensive for me. Is there a certain type of paper I could use? The oil you did is lovely! You do beautiful work!
